Horsemen
Statement
My brother and I had the winner’s circle/finish line photography concession and I later worked as the photo-finish camera operator at Audubon Raceway in Kentucky back in the mid-70s. I got to know some of the horsemen and developed an admiration for their love and commitment to the sport and to their horses.
These images are part of a project about the people and activities behind the scenes of harness racing. Hinsdale (NH) was a small, low stakes racetrack that has sadly closed down. The horsemen owned and raced their own horses and it was a tight supportive community. What struck me was the implied relationship between the horsemen and their horses.
