I have been making photographs for more than fifty years. I approach photography as a documenter and story teller; a communicator.
Communication requires four components: sender, message, medium, receiver. Usually, it is the responsibility of the sender to make sure the receiver understands the message.
In my case as the sender I'm presenting an image (the message) using photography as the medium and relying on the audience/viewer to interpret the message as they see fit.
As a visual communicator I create images that tell a story or invite a story to be imagined. That story is sometimes obvious, sometimes not.
Though my photography has spanned a broad range of subject matter, my work has always had a graphic style: structured, clean, and simple.
