Tabletop
Statement To photographers the term "tabletop" photography usually refers to an arrangement of items or products placed on a flat surface or table. I had the idea of turning that around, putting the camera on a tabletop and photographing the surrounding scene.
I placed a small point & shoot camera on the table at restaurants much like a tourist would and captured the people and atmosphere around me. The technique was to shoot what ever was there, good or nothing, without framing, just random shots at random times. Some of the images were useless (camera movement, people movement, chair backs to high), some were just empty spaces with no diners, but some were really evocative and captured a range of interpersonal involvement during the act of dining out.
